Illustration Concept Project

This was my submission piece for the Society of Illustrators Competition. It is multiple layers of acrylic wash and colored pencil details on 12x18 cold press illustration board. I think this is my favorite illustration to date! :] I like everything about it-which is strange.

Kate Sets Sail

Here is my 2-page spread for my children's book project.  The little girl, Kate, is my younger sister as a child. It is based on a childhood memory of pretending our couch was everything BUT a couch. :)  Enjoy!

Cinderella Pop-Up Book Page

I really liked this project!

The mock-up is done with cheap tagboard and vellum bristol board. I sketched out my characters in colored pencils, flattened the panels and digitally painted them in Adobe PS CS5.  I reprinted the sections on professional grade pearl card stock. The caption is authored by me. :]

I definitely see myself working with pop-ups in the future.
